Understanding Successful Tendering
Three CPD Certified courses which can be taken as a series or individually, designed to take students through the three key stages of knowledge which lead to successful tendering for health and social care contracts.
1) Understanding the legislation and regulations which underpin the current procurement environment;
Learning about the corporate structures, systems and standards which the purchasers require of their contractors;
Seeing how tenders are appraised, what scores well and what does not.
2) Understanding how to prepare an effective tender.
Following the essential steps in tender preparation in a group work format using real tender documents.
3) Understanding what a winning tender looks like, learning the key elements of tendering success.
Course 1.
"Introduction to Tendering for Health and Social Care Contracts"
Tendering for health and social care contracts in the public sector is fundamentally different from bidding for grants. This one-day course provides details of the fundamental differences between both processes. Many tenders are not successful as the difference is not recognised and are written in the same manner. Essential information will be provided regarding the procurement procedures for health and social care services and as to what purchasers from local authority adult and children services departments, PCTs, GP Commisioners, the NHS, etc. are looking for in successful tenders. Also provided are details of how tenders are appraised and how your scores can be improved. This course is for managers and those involved in tendering for contracts in the health, social care and medical sectors, housing associations, etc. It is for charities, companies and other independent providers of all sizes .

Course 2.
"Preparing Effective Tenders"
This is a very popular advanced course which, until recently has been available only on an in-house basis only. This highly acclaimed, very practical course takes students through all of the stages of tender preparation from the receipt of the call to tender to the submission of the document. Examples from the health and Social care sectors are used. The course is groupwork based, using actual tender documents. We recommend that students first attend "Introduction to Tender for Health and Social Care Contracts" Students who have attended both courses have gone on to achieve considerable successes with their tender preparation and contracts awarded.
Whilst all students are welcome the greatest benefit will be gained by those who have a prior understanding of the legislation which underpins tendering and procurement, some knowledge of the Public Contracts Regulations 2006 and an understanding of tender appraisal procedures.

Course 3.
"Winning Tenders for health and Social Care Contracts"
We are frequently asked "What does a winning tender look like?" This half-day course has been designed to answer this question. Companies and organisations which tender successfully are usually reluctant to allow others to see their winning tenders because: a) not only are they their intellectual property but they will also contain confidential business information which the owner will be unwilling to share with potential competitors; b) by sharing details of a winning tender there could be a loss of competitive advantage. This workshop provides a rare opportunity to see and review answers from current winning tenders. During the course you will use this information to compile a set of "Golden Rules" which apply to the preparation of winning tenders.
